LAS VEGAS — The US Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals has sided with Calvary Chapel Lone Mountain. The court found Nevada’s COVID-19 restrictions treat numerous secular activities “…significantly better than religious worship services.”
The court said the government’s restrictions are too broad in scope and must be better tailored to address the pandemic.
The court granted a temporarily restraining order, blocking Nevada from imposing its attendance restrictions on in-person worship services. The court sent the case back down to a lower court with instructions to quickly resolve the case in a manner consistent with the US Supreme Court’s recent ruling.
